Eagles Veterans Explain Why the New Scheme is Offensive Line-Friendly
In a recent interview with Yahoo Sports, Philadelphia Eagles veterans Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson revealed the reasons behind the team’s decision to adopt a new scheme that’s been touted as ‘offensive line-friendly.’ The Eagles, fresh from a dominant 13-1 season, are looking to continue their winning ways in the upcoming NFL season.
According to Kelce, the team’s new scheme is designed to put the Eagles’ best players in the best positions to succeed. “We’re not just about the offense, we’re about the whole team,” Kelce explained. “We’re about being balanced, and if that means giving our linemen more freedom to make their own decisions, then that’s what we’re going to do.”
Lane Johnson, the team’s star right tackle, echoed Kelce’s sentiments, stating that the new scheme allows the linemen to be more proactive in their blocking. “We’re not just about blocking one guy, we’re about blocking the whole defense,” Johnson said. “Our coaches have given us the freedom to be more aggressive, to make our own reads and block the guy who’s going to hurt us the most.”
The Eagles’ new scheme is also designed to reduce the pressure on quarterback Jalen Hurts, allowing him to make quicker decisions and get the ball out of his hands more quickly. “It’s about getting the ball out fast and letting the playmakers make plays,” Kelce said. “We’re not going to try to force the ball to be completed, we’re going to let it happen naturally.”
The Eagles’ veterans are confident that the new scheme will pay off in the long run, and with a strong team chemistry and a healthy roster, the team is looking to make a deep playoff run this season. As Kelce put it, “We’re not just about winning games, we’re about building a culture. And if we can do that, then we’ll be successful, no matter what.”
