Laughed Pretty Hard Watching the Trailer for ESPN’s New Ben Simmons Documentary – Crossing Broad
The 76ers’ front office and fans alike were treated to a surprising moment of levity when the trailer for ESPN’s newest documentary, *Crossing Broad*, premiered last night. The film, which follows the life of Ben Simmons, has been a hot topic among Philadelphia basketball circles, and the trailer’s release sparked a wave of laughter across the city’s coffee shops, bars, and the 76ers’ own practice facilities.
The opening sequence of the trailer showcases Simmons in a series of candid, behind‑the‑scenes moments that feel oddly reminiscent of a sitcom set on Broad Street. The director’s playful tone—complete with a montage of Simmons’ off‑court antics and his unmistakable grin—was a stark contrast to the usual seriousness of NBA biopics. Fans who watched the preview on social media reported that the humor was “so fresh” that it felt like a breath of fresh air for the franchise, which has been navigating a season of ups and downs.
While the documentary’s focus is on Simmons’ journey, the trailer also pays homage to the city that shaped him. A quick cut to the bustling streets of Philadelphia, with the iconic Broad Street Bridge in the background, underscores the deep connection between the player and the city. The title, *Crossing Broad*, is a nod to the literal and metaphorical crossroads that Simmons has faced—from his early days in the NBA to his recent return to the league.
The trailer’s release has already sparked conversations about what the full film will reveal. Many 76ers supporters are eager to see how the documentary will portray the player’s resilience and his role in the team’s future. As the 76ers gear up for their next matchup, the buzz around *Crossing Broad* adds an extra layer of intrigue to the season. Whether it’s a spotlight on Simmons’ on‑court performance or an exploration of his off‑court life, the film promises to give fans a new perspective on one of the city’s most compelling athletes.
